Europe is the most crowded market in travel eSIMs, and most comparisons come down to a price-per-gigabyte table. That is a fair way to compare if your trip stays inside the EU. It is a bad way to compare if it does not, because the thing that ends most European connectivity problems is not price, it is a country that was never on the plan.
This is the honest comparison, including where other providers beat us.
Which eSIM is best for Europe?
For a trip inside the EU, most major providers work well and the sensible comparison is price and data size. Airalo, Holafly, Saily and OVOSIM all cover the main EU destinations. The difference appears at the edges: Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia, Turkey and the UK sit outside EU roaming and are excluded from many "Europe" plans, so check the country list against your actual route before choosing on price alone.
The distinction that matters
"Europe" is not one coverage zone. There are three groups, and plans treat them differently:
In the EU roaming zone. France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece, Croatia, Bulgaria, Portugal, the Netherlands and the rest of the member states. Almost every Europe plan covers these.
In Europe, outside the EU. The UK since Brexit, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Turkey, and the whole Western Balkans. Coverage here varies enormously by provider, and this is where plans quietly differ.
Commonly missing entirely. Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia and Bosnia are excluded from a lot of "Europe" plans despite being geographically in Europe.
If your trip is Paris, Rome and Barcelona, group one is all you need and the comparison is simple. If it includes London, Zurich, Istanbul or anywhere in the Western Balkans, check the list.

Where each one fits
Airalo
The largest catalogue and the most recognised name. If your travel is spread across many continents and you want one account for everything, this is the straightforward choice. For a standard EU trip there is little reason to look further.
Holafly
Unlimited data is the pitch, and it genuinely suits people who stream, tether or simply do not want to think about a cap. You usually pay more for that, so it comes down to whether the cap would have bothered you.
Saily
Simple pricing, clean app, budget positioning. A reasonable pick for a short EU trip where you just want data without much thought.
OVOSIM
Smaller and regionally focused. Our Europe plan covers the EU destinations like any other provider's. Practical points for any provider
- Install before you fly and keep the line switched off until you land, so validity does not start early.
- Leave your home SIM in for your number, with its data roaming turned off.
- Check your phone is eSIM-capable and carrier-unlocked.
- Match the plan to the route, not the region name. "Europe" in a title tells you nothing about which countries are included.
Frequently asked questions
Does a Europe eSIM cover the UK?
Not always. The UK left the EU roaming zone after Brexit, so it is a separate line item on many plans. Check that it is named.
Does a Europe eSIM cover Switzerland and Norway?
Often, but not universally. Neither is an EU member, so both are worth verifying rather than assuming.
Does a Europe eSIM cover Albania, Kosovo or Montenegro?

Is unlimited data worth it?

Can I keep my home number?
