Solution: No Signal After Activating eSIM
OVOSIM Support Team · Updated May 2026
There are several reasons why your device may be unable to find a signal after successfully installing an eSIM. You may experience:
- No signal bars showing
- Phone stuck searching for a network
- Signal status showing "No connection"
Most Common Cause — Wrong Country
The most common reason is that you are not in the eSIM's coverage area yet. Each OVOSIM plan is specific to a destination country — a France eSIM only connects in France, a USA eSIM only connects in the USA, and so on.
If you installed the eSIM before your trip, this is completely normal. The eSIM will not connect until you physically arrive in the destination country. No action is required — it will connect automatically when you land.
Traveling to Russia? Russia applies a mandatory 24-hour data block to all international eSIMs on first connection. Even once you've arrived, you won't have data until the following morning. This is a government regulation — not a fault with your eSIM. See our Russia data block guide.
Already in the destination country?
If you are sure you installed the correct plan and are already in the destination country, follow our full troubleshooting guide — it covers every step to get your signal established, including enabling Data Roaming, resetting the connection, and manually selecting a network.
